Ghana Embassy Engages NEC Corporation on Digital Transformation

The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Tokyo has held strategic discussions with NEC Corporation, one of Japan’s leading technology companies, to deepen cooperation in digital transformation and development initiatives.

The meeting, led by Acting Head of Mission Mr. Francis Thalamus Doe, brought together Embassy officials and NEC’s Africa-focused development cooperation team. NEC presented an overview of its operations across Africa, highlighting ongoing and prospective projects in Ghana.

Particular emphasis was placed on NEC’s work in digital health and nutrition, including projects implemented in Ghana in partnership with international organizations. These initiatives aim to improve maternal and child health outcomes through innovative digital technologies. NEC also showcased its expertise in biometric identification systems, border management solutions, public safety technologies, and digital health platforms currently deployed in several countries worldwide.

Discussions further explored opportunities for collaboration in agriculture, cybersecurity, flood management, and early-warning systems, with both sides underscoring the importance of technology-driven solutions in tackling development challenges and enhancing service delivery.

The Embassy welcomed NEC’s continued interest in Ghana and reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating partnerships that advance Ghana’s digital transformation agenda, foster innovation, and strengthen Ghana–Japan cooperation.
