The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested a 32‑year‑old ex‑convict, Bright Atsu Kudiabor, for allegedly posing as a soldier and extorting money from residents in Ashaiman.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Affairs Unit, Kudiabor was apprehended at a location known as “I Shall Return” with the assistance of the Ghana National Fire Service. Police recovered a set of military camouflage uniform during the arrest.
Investigators say the suspect had been parading himself as a member of the Ghana Armed Forces, using the disguise to intimidate and defraud unsuspecting individuals. He is currently in police custody and will be processed for court once investigations are concluded.
The Police have cautioned the public to remain vigilant and report impersonators to the nearest station. “We urge citizens to assist in exposing such criminal activities to protect communities from exploitation,” the statement emphasized.
The release, signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs in Tema, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to cracking down on impersonation and safeguarding public trust in Ghana’s security institutions.
