Okaikwei Central MP supports Easter celebrations with donation to Christian Council

Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah has donated 1000 packs of bottled water and an undisclosed amount of money to the Christian Council of Ghana ahead this year’s Easter celebrations.

The donation was made to support the Council’s events lined up to celebrate Easter in the coming days.

In his address during the presentation, the MP noted that the gesture was inspired by his resolve to supporting good causes in his own small way.

“I reflected during this Holy Week on how I could contribute, in my own small way, to support the Christian community during this sacred time. With conventions and services like Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday, and even picnics on Easter Monday, I felt compelled to offer something meaningful.”

Dr. Hilliard Dela Dogbe, the Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana, who led his team to receive the donation, expressed gratitude for Mr. Boamah’s gesture stressing its alignment with the importance of community support and kindness during significant religious periods.

“Your selfless act serves as an inspiration to others, demonstrating the impact of individual contributions to the greater good. As the Christian community observes this sacred period, such acts of kindness is appreciated,” he said.

Easter, also known as Pascha or Resurrection Sunday, is a significant Christian festival commemorating Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead.

On his part, Lt. Col. Justice Isaac Incoom, Secretary for Programmes of the Salvation Army Ghana, described the donation as “historic,” and rare, citing the support of corporate entities and individuals during Islamic festivities, as a cause to emulate by the Christian community.

“I believe this is a landmark gesture, and we pray that others will be inspired to follow Hon. Boamah’s example and support the Christian Council in future celebrations,” he stated.
