A delegation from the Foreign Service Academy of Kenya has arrived in Ghana for a benchmarking visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two countries’ Foreign Service Institutes.
The delegation, led by H.E. Shem Amadi, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana, included Prof. Patrick M. Maluki, Director of the Kenyan Foreign Service Institute, and senior council officials. They paid a courtesy call on Hon. James Gyakye Quayson (MP), Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Accra. On the Ghanaian side, Ambassador Perpetua Dufu, Director of Ghana’s Foreign Service Institute, joined the discussions.
The meeting explored avenues for collaboration between the two institutes, particularly in imparting the vision and values of iconic leaders such as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana and Jomo Kenyatta of Kenya. Hon. Quayson emphasized that Ghana–Kenya relations continue to reflect strong cultural and historical bonds, and expanding them through exchange programmes and joint studies will further reinforce these ties.
Highlighting the dynamism of Africa’s youth, the Deputy Minister noted that both West and East Africa are poised for growth, with Ghana and Kenya serving as shining examples of progress. He stressed the importance of extensive collaboration between the private sectors of both countries to drive economic growth and sustainable development, alongside diplomatic cooperation through the two institutes.
On his part, Ambassador Amadi commended Ghana’s development trajectory, citing his tours across the Central, Eastern, Volta, Northern, and Western regions. He praised Ghana’s leadership for achievements in education, health, and infrastructure. Prof. Maluki also expressed sympathies for the floods that struck Accra the previous day, commending Ghana’s swift response to mitigate the impact.
This visit marks a significant step in advancing commercial diplomacy and institutional collaboration, reinforcing the enduring partnership between Ghana and Kenya.
