The Ministry of Health has announced a final extension of the deadline for newly recruited nurses and allied health professionals to report to their assigned duty posts, moving the date to August 31, 2026.
In a statement, the Ministry explained that the extension is intended to give affected professionals additional time to complete their postings and mechanisation processes. Officials noted that some professionals have already reported and are receiving salaries, while others are still completing the required steps.
The Ministry also clarified the recruitment and salary payment process to dispel misinformation. The procedure involves financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance, recruitment applications, district-level interviews, acceptance of postings, confirmation of assumption of duty, and submission of documentation to relevant agencies such as the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG). Salaries are validated by the facility before payment by the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD).
The Ministry emphasized that every recruited professional must go through these steps to ensure accountability and prevent the creation of ghost names. It urged all affected professionals to take advantage of the final extension and report to their assigned facilities within the stipulated period.
This directive highlights Ghana’s ongoing efforts to strengthen health workforce management, improve salary mechanisation, and ensure effective deployment of nurses and allied health professionals across the country.
