Bank of Ghana Launches Sustainable Finance Roadmap

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, has officially launched the country’s Sustainable Finance Roadmap, reaffirming the Bank’s commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and future‑ready financial system.

The Roadmap provides a coordinated framework to:

  • Integrate ESG principles into financial sector operations.
  • Strengthen climate risk management across institutions.
  • Mobilise sustainable finance to support Ghana’s long‑term economic transformation.

“Sustainable finance is not only about managing risks. It is also about positioning Ghana to access new pools of global capital, finance critical infrastructure, support the energy transition, deepen our financial markets, and strengthen long‑term growth,” Dr. Asiama stated.

The Bank of Ghana, working closely with regulators, industry stakeholders, and development partners, pledged to foster a financial ecosystem that promotes sustainable growth, financial stability, and shared prosperity.

The launch of the Roadmap signals Ghana’s determination to align its financial sector with global sustainability standards while unlocking opportunities for investment in infrastructure, energy transition, and inclusive development.
