The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) has officially launched its 50th anniversary celebrations at Hamidu Hall, Teshie, marking five decades of excellence in professional military education.
In a commemorative message, President John Dramani Mahama, Commander‑in‑Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, underscored the College’s pivotal role in addressing emerging security challenges within the sub‑region. He reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting the institution to maintain its reputation as a centre of excellence.
Delivering the keynote address under the theme “Celebrating 50 years of excellence in professional military education”, Hon. Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff at the Presidency, commended GAFCSC for its outstanding contribution to leadership development and its successful integration of military training with academic excellence for both local and international officers.
To mark the official launch, Hon. Debrah participated in a symbolic tree‑planting exercise and cut sod for the anniversary project. The event brought together dignitaries including Deputy Defence Minister Hon. Ernest Brogya Genfi, Chief Director of the Ministry Mr. Emmanuel Kartey, past commandants, military officials, and academic cohorts to celebrate the College’s rich legacy and future aspirations.
Planned activities for the golden jubilee include a public lecture, health walk, fun games, a graduation dinner, and a thanksgiving service.
The celebrations highlight GAFCSC’s enduring mission to produce officers equipped with the strategic insight, discipline, and leadership skills necessary to safeguard Ghana’s security and contribute to peace across the continent.
