The second batch of recruits of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has officially reported to various military training institutions across the country to commence their Basic Military Training programme.
The recruits reported to their respective training centres on Friday, October 23, marking the beginning of a six-month training period designed to prepare them for service in the armed forces.
The training institutions receiving the recruits include the Army Recruit Training School, Air Force Recruit Training School, Navy Recruit Training School, Armour Training School, and the Army Special Operations Training School.
According to GAF, the Basic Military Training programme is aimed at instilling discipline, professionalism and the core values that underpin military service.
Over the next six months, the recruits will undergo intensive training in a range of military subjects intended to equip them with the knowledge and skills required for their duties.
Key areas of instruction will include field craft, first aid, weapon handling, drill, map reading and physical training, among other military disciplines.
The programme is designed to develop the recruits physically, mentally and professionally while preparing them to uphold the standards, traditions and values of the Ghana Armed Forces.
Military authorities say the training will provide a strong foundation for the recruits as they begin their careers in service to the nation.
The commencement of training marks a significant milestone in the transition of the recruits from civilian life to military service and forms an important part of the Ghana Armed Forces’ efforts to build a disciplined and professional force capable of meeting the country’s security needs.
