The Inspector-General of Police’s Special Operations Team has arrested seven individuals in an intelligence-led narcotics operation across Ejisu, Abrepo Junction, and Atimatim in the Ashanti Region.
According to a statement from the Regional Police Headquarters, the arrests were carried out on August 20, 2026, following coordinated surveillance and intelligence gathering. The suspects, whose ages range between their 20s and 40s, were apprehended with substances believed to be narcotics, alongside unregistered drugs including Tramadol and Rophynol.
All seven are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. Authorities say efforts are underway to trace the source of the substances and dismantle the networks behind their distribution.
Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit in the Ashanti Region, urged the public to provide credible information to support law enforcement in combating the narcotics trade.
The operation underscores the Ghana Police Service’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, illegal pharmaceuticals, and the broader fight against organized crime.
