President Mahama Receives German President Steinmeier at Jubilee House

On Monday, November 3, President John Dramani Mahama officially welcomed the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, to the Jubilee House in Accra, marking the start of a three-day official visit to Ghana.

President Steinmeier’s visit, which spans from Sunday, November 2 to Tuesday, November 4, 2025, aims to reinforce the enduring relationship between Ghana and Germany. The agenda focuses on enhancing collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, technological advancement, and sustainable development.

A formal welcome ceremony took place at the Forecourt of the Presidency, where President Steinmeier reviewed a full military Guard of Honour before proceeding to a private meeting with President Mahama in the Credentials Room. The two heads of state are expected to lead their respective delegations in high-level discussions aimed at boosting economic ties and fostering cooperation in innovation, green energy, and industrial transformation.

Following the bilateral talks, President Mahama will host a State Luncheon at the Presidential Banquet Hall in honour of President Steinmeier and his delegation.

While in Accra, the German President is scheduled to visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He will also meet with young Ghanaian tech professionals and attend a diplomatic reception at the residence of the German Ambassador.

On the final day of his visit, Tuesday, President Steinmeier will travel to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. There, he will break ground for a new project at the Kumasi Technical Institute, engage with faculty and students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), tour the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research, and pay a courtesy visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace
