Police Caution Students Ahead of WASSCE Completion

As final-year students across the country prepare to complete the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on Friday, June 19, the Ghana Police Service has urged candidates to remain disciplined, law-abiding, and to celebrate responsibly after their examinations.

In a statement, the Service reminded students that acts of violence, vandalism, arson, assault, and other unlawful conduct carry serious criminal consequences that could permanently jeopardize their futures and derail the academic careers they have worked hard to build.

The Police cautioned that it will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any student found engaging in such misconduct.

The warning follows two recent incidents of student violence in the Upper East Region, which resulted in the arrest of six students. At Zebilla Senior High Technical School, two students were arrested in connection with the arson of a teacher’s apartment. At Bawku Senior High School, four students were arrested for rioting, assaulting school staff, and destroying school and private property.

The Ghana Police Service has therefore called on students, parents, guardians, and school authorities to work together to promote a culture of discipline, respect, and peace as the examination period draws to a close.
