Eight persons out of the eleven passengers onboard a canoe have died after it capsized on the Oti River. The accident happened on Monday, March 27. A private legal practitioner has bemoaned the law that requires that for an Islamic marriage under Mohammedan law to be considered valid, the union must be registered within seven days after the marriage ceremony.
