Mahama Launches Global Panel Under Accra Reset Initiative

President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled a high-level panel under the Accra Reset Initiative, a bold African-led agenda designed to advance health and economic sovereignty. The move signals Ghana’s growing leadership in shaping a more equitable global system.

The panel, made up of 18 distinguished global leaders, is tasked with driving actionable reforms to reshape global health governance, placing the Global South at the center of decision-making. It will be co-chaired by renowned figures including Peter Piot, El Hadj As Sy, Nisia Trindade, and Budi Gunadi Sadikin, who will lead efforts to deliver concrete proposals for transforming the global health architecture.

Backing the panel is a High-Level Consultative Group featuring major institutions such as the World Health Organization, World Trade Organization, and Africa CDC. Their involvement provides technical expertise and institutional support to ensure the initiative’s recommendations are both practical and impactful.

President Mahama described the launch as a significant milestone in the pursuit of a fairer and more inclusive global order. “This initiative is about ensuring that voices from the Global South are not only heard but are central to shaping solutions,” he said.
