The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has expressed deep sorrow following a tragic school bus accident at Assin Edubiase in the Central Region, which claimed the lives of two pupils of Alice Elites Academy and left several others injured.
In a statement issued on June 3, the Ministry conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the school community, assuring them of government’s solidarity in this difficult time.
The Ministry commended the swift response of the Ghana Police Service, health personnel, emergency responders, and community members whose efforts helped manage the aftermath of the accident. It emphasized the importance of accountability and child safety, noting that investigations by the Police are ongoing.
To support affected families and pupils, the Ministry announced plans to provide psychosocial assistance through Regional and District Social Welfare Offices. The statement reaffirmed government’s commitment to protecting children and ensuring safer environments for learning and growth.
The Ministry concluded by pledging continued support to the families and school community, underscoring that the tragedy is a reminder of the collective responsibility to safeguard the lives of Ghana’s children.
