The National Chief Imam of the Republic of Ghana, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, has called on Ghanaians to unite in prayer and support for the Black Stars as they represent the nation at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
In a statement issued by his office, His Eminence extended goodwill, solidarity, and prayers to the players, technical team, and management, asking Almighty Allah to grant them guidance, strength, unity, discipline, and resilience throughout the tournament. He also prayed for their safety and protection from injury.
The Chief Imam directed Imams across the country, particularly regional and district leaders, to remember the Black Stars in their prayers. Special supplications are being offered for Ghana’s opening match against Panama and for the team’s overall campaign, which marks the nation’s fifth appearance at the World Cup.
“The Black Stars carry not only the aspirations of football supporters but also the collective hopes, pride, and identity of the Ghanaian people,” the statement noted, stressing that their participation serves as a symbol of national unity and patriotism that transcends political, ethnic, and religious differences.
The Office of the Chief Imam expressed confidence in the team’s ability to demonstrate the talent, discipline, and fighting spirit for which Ghana is renowned worldwide. His Eminence urged all Ghanaians to rally behind the team with encouragement, goodwill, and prayers.
“May Almighty Allah bless the Black Stars with success and make their participation a source of pride, joy, and inspiration for Ghana and future generations,” the statement concluded.
