Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Volta Region swiftly responded to a road traffic accident involving a Hyundai Mighty truck at the Ho Civic Centre traffic light on Saturday.
Firefighters, working alongside other emergency responders, rescued two victims — a 35-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman — and conveyed them to the Ho Teaching Hospital for treatment. Sadly, the female victim later succumbed to her injuries while receiving medical care.
The crash left the front section of the truck badly damaged and partially destroyed two nearby boutiques. Preliminary investigations suggest brake failure may have caused the accident.
The GNFS has urged motorists to carry out regular vehicle maintenance, particularly on braking systems, to help prevent similar tragedies.
