President John Dramani Mahama today began a one-day official visit to France with a meeting with Gérard Larcher, President of the French Senate. He was received with a military ceremony before the bilateral discussions, which focused on trade and investment, regional security, counter-terrorism, and France’s support for maternal health and agriculture in Ghana.

The talks also highlighted what officials described as the “remarkable improvement” in Ghana’s economy under President Mahama’s leadership.

The President’s delegation includes Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), National Security Advisor Prosper Bani, Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama, Presidential Advisor and Special Aide Joyce Mogtari, and Ghana’s Ambassador to France Mavis Frimpong.

Later today, President Mahama is scheduled to hold talks with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, where discussions are expected to deepen cooperation between Ghana and France across key sectors.
