The Ministry of Education has condemned the violent assault at Obuasi Senior High Technical School, describing the incident as “reprehensible and criminal” and directing swift disciplinary action against those found culpable.
In a statement issued on August 5, 2026, the Ministry reaffirmed its zero‑tolerance stance on lawlessness in educational institutions. The Honourable Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has instructed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to investigate the matter thoroughly and apply sanctions in line with established disciplinary procedures.
The release, signed by Deputy Minister Dr. Clement Abas Apak, emphasized that discipline remains the foundation of quality education. It assured the public that the Ministry will collaborate with relevant institutions to maintain safe and secure learning environments across the country.
“The Ministry of Education reiterates its commitment to ensuring discipline in schools and calls on all stakeholders to uphold peaceful coexistence,” the statement noted.
The incident has heightened public concern over safety in schools, with education authorities stressing the need for respect, accountability, and stronger enforcement of discipline to safeguard both staff and students.
