The Director of Communications for the 2024 Bawumia campaign team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, says his recent detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has only strengthened his resolve to continue leading the New Patriotic Party’s communications strategy.
EOCO, in a statement dated July 13, explained that its investigations stemmed from a petition submitted by the current Executive Secretary of IMCCoD, requesting further inquiries into a forensic audit covering the period between August 1, 2022, and February 2, 2025.
In a defiant message to party supporters, Aboagye declared: “I am out. I am unbroken. And I am more ready than ever. Thank you patriots!” He recounted that his detention came just a day after announcing his intention to serve as National Communications Director, insisting that “a false narrative was put out” about his arrest.
“For the records: there was no discussion of any GH¢55 million with me by EOCO. None!” he stressed.
Aboagye praised party faithful who staged protests during his detention, saying their actions defended not just his reputation but the principle that “no voice can be intimidated into silence.” He vowed to lead the NPP’s communications directorate to “command the narrative,” adding that attempts to break or scare him had “failed spectacularly.”
He expressed gratitude to his legal team, party leadership, and supporters, concluding that the journey was now a collective one: “We move. Stronger. Louder. Together.”
The episode highlights growing tensions between investigative authorities and political actors, with Aboagye’s defiance signaling his determination to remain a central figure in the NPP’s communications machinery ahead of the 2024 campaign.
