The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has intensified its fight against gold smuggling and illicit financial flows through a new partnership with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
At a high‑level meeting convened under the Ghana‑UK Gold Programme, the two institutions discussed the development of a GoldBod‑EOCO Operational Collaboration Framework. The framework is designed to strengthen joint enforcement against gold‑related crimes, including money laundering and smuggling, while safeguarding the integrity of Ghana’s gold value chain.
Officials said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to disrupt criminal networks and ensure Ghana derives maximum economic benefit from its gold resources. The framework will emphasize information sharing, coordinated enforcement, and institutional cooperation, building a more transparent and accountable sector.
GoldBod and EOCO underscored that the initiative is part of broader reforms aimed at protecting Ghana’s gold industry from exploitation, while reinforcing the country’s reputation as a responsible player in the global gold market.
