President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday assented to the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill, 2025, in a brief ceremony held ahead of the 13th cabinet meeting.

In his remarks, the president described the legislation as a milestone in Ghana’s economic transformation agenda. “Cabinet colleagues, I just appended my signature to give assent to the 24-hour Authority Bill. This Bill, which Ghanaians have been waiting for, was one of our flagship strategies for economic transformation,” he said.

Explaining the delay in passage, President Mahama noted that government had undertaken extensive due diligence to ensure the policy initiative was given firm legal backing. He emphasized that the next phase would be implementation, urging both local and foreign investors to prepare for the opportunities the new framework presents.
“Now we must move from strategy to implementation. The business sector is waiting, Ghanaian investors are waiting, foreign investors are waiting. They want to see the package of incentives that we can afford, so that they can invest more, expand productivity and create more employment for our young people,” he added.
The new law establishes the 24-Hour Economy Authority as the central coordinating body for the policy. It will align public and private sector efforts, address infrastructure and regulatory needs, and oversee the rollout of incentives designed to boost productivity and job creation.
The 24-Hour Economy initiative, one of the administration’s flagship strategies, is expected to position Ghana as a competitive hub for investment and industrial growth by ensuring round-the-clock economic activity.
