Dumelo Launches Free Cocoa Drink Initiative for Pupils

Hon. John Setor Dumelo, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, has announced a new program to provide free Ghana-made cocoa drinks to public school pupils.

Beginning March 2, 2026, children from Class 1 to Class 4 in public basic schools across the constituency will receive cocoa drinks once a week until the end of the year.

According to the MP, the initiative is designed to promote both child health and national pride. Cocoa, he noted, is rich in antioxidants, iron, and magnesium—nutrients essential for cognitive development and sustained energy during the school day.

“This program is a testament to our belief that a healthy child is a teachable child,” Dumelo stated. He emphasized that the effort will not only boost school attendance but also support local farmers and manufacturers by sourcing exclusively Ghana-made products.

The distribution, he added, is intended to instill appreciation for Ghana’s “gold”—cocoa—while strengthening ties between young learners and the country’s heritage.

The initiative underscores Dumelo’s broader commitment to education and community development, positioning nutrition as a cornerstone of learning in Ayawaso West Wuogon.
