Residents of the Senya electoral district in Accra who live close to the Maamobi market are protesting the Ayawaso North Municipality’s proposed demolition project.
The inhabitants claimed that, If the exercise is carried out without sufficient interaction 6,000 people will become homeless. ”We didn’t arrive here on our own, we were moved by the government to this new market. We have been here for a while, and now the Assembly has given us an 8-day deadline to depart. Additionally, the assemblyman visited us and given us notice to depart starting on this month’s eighth”. A person who interacted with Citi News stated.
”Nobody is paying attention to us. We’ve been around for more than 50 years. We have constructed homes on this plot. We feel quite uneasy. To help us, we need the authorities to reverse their decision and come to us. If our issues are not addressed, we will launch a series of rallies”, another resident stated.
