GES Launches National Entrepreneurship Programme for Senior High Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with Kivo Ghana, has officially unveiled the National Entrepreneurship Programme for Senior High Schools, a pioneering initiative aimed at bridging the skills gap and nurturing entrepreneurial mindsets among young learners.

Currently piloted in selected schools, the programme is designed to provide students with real-world business experience, strengthen employability skills, and establish a scalable national framework for entrepreneurship education at the pre-tertiary level.

Deputy Director-General (Management Services) of GES, Professor Smile Gavua Dzisi, emphasized the importance of making entrepreneurship education practical rather than theoretical.

“Instead of giving us fish, we are being taught how to fish,” she remarked, urging students to become creators of opportunities rather than seekers of jobs.

Representing the CEO of Procus Ghana, Mr. Evans Kwofie encouraged students to remain curious, believe in their abilities, and think boldly. He highlighted that students remain central to Kivo’s mission of inspiring innovation and creativity.

A panel discussion featuring representatives from Achimota School, Accra STEM Academy, and Wesley Grammar School explored the role of young people in entrepreneurship, underscoring their immense potential to become future business leaders.

Through this initiative, GES reaffirms its commitment to equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in an ever-changing world, while fostering a new generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and job creators.
