Foreign Minister and Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has honoured six young athletes from Mepe who emerged champions at the National Junior Olympics held at the University of Ghana.
The super-talented children, aged between 7 and 15, distinguished themselves by winning nine medals—the highest tally recorded at the competition. Their outstanding performance brought pride not only to Mepe but to the entire North Tongu constituency.
In recognition of their achievement, Mr. Ablakwa announced a full scholarship package for all six athletes, covering their education from basic through to tertiary level. He also presented them with a cash award of GHS20,000 to support their training and personal development.
“You made us all proud; may you in a few years become Ghana’s next Olympic champions,” Mr. Ablakwa said, expressing confidence in their future potential.
The Foreign Minister’s gesture has been widely praised as a demonstration of his commitment to nurturing young talent and investing in the future of sports in Ghana.
This intervention is expected to inspire more children in North Tongu and beyond to pursue excellence in athletics and other sporting disciplines.
