Ablakwa Cuts Sod for Historic GHS107m Educational Projects in North Tongu

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Foreign Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has cut sod for what has been described as the biggest educational intervention in the history of the constituency.

The ambitious initiative, valued at GHS107 million, will see the construction of 15 mega educational projects across North Tongu. All five Senior High Schools in the area—Mepe St. Kizito, Battor Senior High, Aveyime Battor Secondary Technical, Dorfor Senior High, and Volo Senior High—are set to benefit from modern infrastructure including 2,500-capacity dining hall complexes, new dormitories for boys and girls, and the completion of Phase Two of the Volo E-Block, which will transform it into a full boarding facility.

In addition, new basic schools will be built in all traditional areas, with special emphasis on Mepe, where schools were destroyed by the recent Akosombo Dam spillage.

Mr. Ablakwa disclosed that construction works will commence immediately following the completion of competitive procurement processes. He expressed gratitude to former President John Mahama, the Minister of Education, and the Administrator of GETFund for their unwavering support towards quality education.

“We are not just constructing buildings; we are empowering the next generation to take our country to the promised land,” he said.

The Foreign Minister also acknowledged the Volta Regional Minister and traditional leaders for their presence and dedication to duty, assuring constituents that he will continue to “under-promise and over-deliver” as has been his hallmark in North Tongu.

This landmark intervention is expected to significantly boost access to quality education and improve learning conditions for thousands of students across the constituency.
