Ministry of Foreign Affairs Grants Ghanaian Passport to IShowSpeed

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially approved the issuance of a Ghanaian passport to American YouTube sensation Darren Watkins Jr., popularly known as IShowSpeed.

This follows confirmation of the entertainer’s irrefutable ties to Ghana, strengthening his connection to the nation and the African continent. The announcement was made in recognition of Speed’s growing influence and his role in projecting Ghana positively on the global stage.

The Ministry expressed delight at the development, noting that Speed joins fellow digital creator Wode Maya in carrying Ghana’s identity proudly across borders. “Keep making our great nation Ghana, and our beloved African continent proud. Ghana celebrates you both — you remain our worthy ambassadors,” the statement read.

The Ministry further recalled that Wode Maya was granted a diplomatic passport last year, underscoring the government’s commitment to honoring individuals who amplify Ghana’s image internationally.

IShowSpeed, known for his energetic livestreams and massive global following, has often expressed admiration for Ghanaian culture. His recognition by the state marks a symbolic embrace of digital creators as cultural ambassadors in the modern era.
