Vice President, Sunda Group Back 24-Hour Economy to Drive Industrial Growth and Jobs

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has met with the management of Sunda Group, led by Ghana Director Mr. Michael Ye, to discuss investment opportunities, industrial expansion, and social initiatives that align with government priorities.

Mr. Ye expressed appreciation for the Vice President’s presence at the commissioning of the company’s new production line and reaffirmed Sunda’s confidence in Ghana’s improving economic outlook. He noted that the new facility, which adopts the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative, demonstrates how policy can translate into increased productivity, expanded operations, and job creation.

The Vice President underscored government’s determination to maintain a stable and enabling environment that boosts investor confidence and allows businesses to thrive. “Collaboration between Government and the private sector is vital to national development,” she emphasized.

On social policy, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reiterated her belief that a girl’s natural biological functions should never be a barrier to education or full potential. She highlighted the Free Sanitary Pad Initiative, backed by GHS 292.4 million in the 2026 Budget, as a key government priority. She commended Sunda Group for its sanitary pad donations, which she said contribute meaningfully to advancing this national initiative.

The Vice President further encouraged the company to deepen its value chain by exploring the use of locally sourced materials, ensuring that more Ghanaians benefit from industrial growth. She also called on Sunda Ghana to intensify public education on the proper disposal of sanitary pads and diapers, stressing the importance of good hygiene, environmental protection, and effective waste management.

Partnerships of this nature, she noted, demonstrate how government and industry can work together to drive inclusive growth, protect dignity, and build a healthier, more productive Ghana.
