Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has held discussions with the leadership of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), focusing on the Centre’s mandate and its expanding role in advancing peace, security, and inclusion.
During the meeting, the Vice President commended KAIPTC for its enduring contribution as a regional hub for peacekeeping training, research, and policy dialogue. She particularly acknowledged the Centre’s strong emphasis on women, peace and security, youth mentorship, and institutional reform—pillars she described as essential to sustaining national and regional stability.
Highlighting the shared responsibility required to maintain peace, the Vice President stressed the importance of strengthening early warning and mediation mechanisms. She noted that timely and proactive interventions are critical to preventing the escalation of tensions.
The engagement also underscored the need to deepen women’s participation in peace processes, nurture youth leadership, and enhance institutional visibility. Discussions further explored the growing relevance of Artificial Intelligence in governance and security research, with calls for clarity, ethical standards, and responsible application.
The meeting reaffirmed government’s commitment to inclusive peacebuilding, forward-looking security governance, and proactive conflict prevention in service to Ghana and the wider African region.
