Foreign Affairs Minister Engages Ghana Missions in Middle East on Evolving Security Situation

 In line with government’s commitment to safeguard the welfare of Ghanaians abroad, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), on Tuesday held a virtual meeting with Heads of Mission of Ghana’s diplomatic missions in the Middle East to discuss the evolving situation in the region.

The Minister reassured the public that “so far no Ghanaian has been killed or injured.” He further disclosed that the Ministry has compiled a reliable database of all Ghanaians in the affected countries, including short-term visitors and those transiting through the region.

Hon. Ablakwa underscored the critical role of diplomatic missions in extending consular assistance during times of crisis. He commended embassy staff for their professionalism and dedication in ensuring the safety of nationals.

Discussions during the meeting focused on emergency preparedness, effective communication with Ghanaian nationals, and adherence to directives issued by host authorities to guarantee safety and security.

The engagement reflects Ghana’s proactive approach to crisis management and its unwavering commitment to protecting citizens abroad, even in volatile circumstances.
