Thunderstorms Expected Along Coast as Northern Ghana Faces Dry, Hazy Conditions — GMet

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has forecast mixed weather conditions across the country over the next 24 hours, with coastal and middle-sector communities likely to experience localized thunderstorms and rain later today, while northern parts remain predominantly dry and hazy.

According to the agency’s latest impact-based forecast issued Friday, sunny conditions with periodic cloud cover will dominate much of the country this afternoon. However, from late afternoon into the evening, isolated thunderstorms or rainfall are expected along the coast, nearby inland areas, and parts of the middle belt.

Northern and transition-sector regions are projected to experience dry and dusty conditions due to prevailing haze, with varying intensities throughout the forecast period.

GMet also noted that relatively cooler temperatures are expected overnight and during the early morning hours, particularly across northern and transition areas.

Temperature forecasts indicate maximum daytime readings could reach as high as 38°C in northern Ghana, while coastal areas are expected to record lower maximum temperatures around 33°C. Minimum temperatures are forecast to range between 21°C and 23°C nationwide.

The agency has placed some coastal and middle-sector communities under a “Take Action” and “Be Prepared” risk category due to possible thunderstorms and rainfall, advising residents to remain alert to weather developments.

GMet continues to urge the public, especially fishermen, motorists, and outdoor workers, to stay updated on weather advisories and take precautionary measures where necessary.

The forecast remains valid through midday Saturday.
