State Withdraws Charges Against Former Buffer Stock CEO; Adu-Boahene Trial Continues

The state has withdrawn criminal charges against former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food and Buffer Stock Company Limited, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, and his co-accused in the ongoing GH¢78 million alleged loss case.

Deputy Attorney-General Dr Justice Srem-Sai announced the withdrawal in court on Tuesday, May 5, the adjourned date for the case, before later providing further explanation on social media. He stated: “Following the discovery of fresh evidence, we have, a while ago, withdrawn from the prosecution of all the Accused Persons in the case of The Republic v Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba and Four Others. This is to afford each of the Accused Persons a fair and a more speedy trial in accordance with the Constitution.”

The decision marks a significant development in one of the country’s high-profile financial cases, with implications for how evidence and constitutional guarantees shape prosecutorial strategy.

Meanwhile, proceedings continued in The Republic v Kwabena Adu-Boahene & Others. Later in the afternoon, the last-but-one prosecution witness resumed her testimony. A former bank relationship manager who later worked with the accused persons, she recounted how the defendants allegedly obtained and spent funds believed to have been misappropriated from the state.

Her testimony is expected to be crucial in establishing the prosecution’s case as the trial moves toward its final stages.
