Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo will be available for Tuesday’s EFL Cup semi-final clash with Newcastle United following a rule change in the competition this season.
Semenyo, 26, joined Pep Guardiola’s side in a £65 million move from Bournemouth and marked his debut with a goal in City’s 10-1 FA Cup third-round demolition of Exeter City.
The Ghanaian international had featured for Bournemouth in their second-round defeat to Brentford back in August, which under previous regulations would have cup-tied him. However, EFL rule 6.4 now allows players to represent up to two clubs in the competition within the same season.
City defender Max Alleyne, recalled from his loan spell at Championship side Watford, is also eligible to play against Newcastle after appearing in the first round earlier in the campaign.
Chelsea striker Marc Guiu has likewise benefited from the amendment, having played for Sunderland on loan against Huddersfield Town in round two before returning to Stamford Bridge prior to the close of the summer transfer window.
