Chairman of the Parliamentary Caucus on Persons with Disabilities, Hon. Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has called for stronger national action to advance the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities in Ghana.
Presenting a statement to mark the commemoration of a national day with persons with disabilities, Dr. Apaak reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to building a society where every citizen can live with dignity, exercise their rights, and realize their full potential regardless of disability.
He stressed the need to strengthen social protection systems and integrate disability considerations into all aspects of national planning and development. According to him, laws must be effectively enforced, institutions adequately resourced, and public policies translated into measurable improvements in people’s lives.
Dr. Apaak, who also serves as Member of Parliament for Builsa South, emphasized that disability inclusion is not an act of charity but a matter of human rights, equality, and justice. He urged stakeholders to work collectively to ensure that persons with disabilities are empowered to contribute meaningfully to national development.
