The new utility service tariffs announced by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission begins today, Thursday, September 1, 2022. The new tariffs include an increase of 27.15% in electricity and 21.55% in water. Man jumps from Tamale flyover in an alleged suicide attempt
Police in the Northern Region says they are investigating circumstances that led to a middle-aged man jumping from the Tamale flyover in an apparent suicide attempt. The incident which occurred on Monday saw a man, believed to be in his 30s, jumping from the flyover and landing on the ground lane. In a 5-second video circulating on social media, onlookers could be heard screaming as the man falls from the overpass. The man is said to have sustained injuries and was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

The Auditor-General has revealed that 21 officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) failed to declare their assets. The Auditor-General has recommended that the Zongo Development Fund gets a permanent office for its operations after discovering that it spends more than $5,000 per month on rent. The Auditor General in a report addressed to the Speaker of Parliament Hon. Alban Bagbin, revealed that out of 360 programmes offered at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST), only 61 are accredited. “we noted that out of the 360 programmes run by the University, only 61 have been accredited, 190 sent to National Accreditation Board (NAB) for accreditation and reaccreditation with 109 yet to be sent to NAB for accreditation.” The report indicated.
