President Mahama has assured Ghanaians that his administration is committed to retrieving stolen state resources and prosecuting those found culpable.
Updating the media on the ongoing “Operation Recover All the Loots,” the President revealed that over 200 cases were under active investigation, with about 80 individuals interrogated so far. Several high-profile prosecutions, including the SkyTrain and National Service Authority cases, are at various stages in court.
“For the National Cathedral case, we are awaiting a forensic audit from the Auditor-General,” he disclosed, adding that dockets were also being prepared for the Buffer Stock and Drip Equipment cases.
He insisted that the government’s slow but steady approach was due to its adherence to due process.
“Yes, our insistence on doing things the right way may afford those who have looted this country some temporary relief. But it will not grant them permanent escape,” he said firmly.
The President further announced that a new anti-corruption strategy and a Code of Conduct for Public Officials had been launched to entrench ethical governance.
