The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has moved to allay public concerns over the availability of aviation fuel (ATK), firmly denying reports of a nationwide shortage.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Authority emphasized that Ghana currently holds sufficient stocks of ATK to meet domestic demand.
This reassurance comes on the heels of similar denials issued by the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, which earlier refuted media claims of an impending fuel crisis in the aviation sector.
According to the NPA, engineers from the Ghana Petroleum Mooring Systems (GPMS) have successfully completed the replacement of 600 meters of critical pipeline infrastructure essential for ATK discharge operations.
The Authority confirmed that a vessel carrying 10,000 metric tonnes of ATK is presently offloading into major national depots, with tankers actively transporting the fuel to the airport.
6,000MT to the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR)
1,500MT to Ridge Depot
2,500MT to PWSL
“This supply is sufficient to last for the next two weeks,” the NPA noted, adding that two additional vessels are currently at anchorage and ready to discharge according to schedule.
“The public is encouraged to disregard any misinformation circulating about fuel shortages,” the statement read. “The NPA remains committed to collaborating with industry stakeholders to ensure energy security in the aviation sector.”
The Authority also commended the GPMS engineering team for their swift and effective intervention, which helped restore operations and maintain an uninterrupted supply chain.
