The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has seized more than 2.3 tonnes of suspected cannabis during a special anti-drug operation at Gbi-Wegbe, near Hohoe in the Volta Region.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Sunday, May 31, 2026, led to the confiscation of 2,372.38 kilograms of suspected cannabis, with an estimated street value of GH¢1,186,190.

According to NACOC, the intelligence-led exercise uncovered a farmhouse and warehouse believed to be serving as a storage point for illegal drugs. Officers raided the premises, resulting in one of the Commission’s largest seizures in recent months.

Investigations are underway to identify and apprehend individuals connected to the illegal operation. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to clamping down on the production, trafficking, and distribution of narcotics across the country.
In a statement, NACOC stressed its resolve to protect the public from the harmful effects of illicit drugs, noting that the latest seizure forms part of ongoing efforts to safeguard communities and strengthen national security.
