The Manhyia District Police Command has intercepted a large consignment of suspected narcotic drugs at the Asawase Market, leading to the arrest of two men.
According to a statement from the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters, the suspects — Osman Bassein, 37, and Mohammed Abdul‑Razak, 38 — were apprehended while transporting fertilizer sacks believed to contain narcotics.
Police recovered thirteen sacks filled with one hundred compressed parcels of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drugs. The exhibits have been photographed, secured, and forwarded for forensic examination.
The suspects are currently in custody assisting with investigations. The police commended members of the public for providing credible information that aided the operation and encouraged continued cooperation in the fight against crime.
Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit in the Ashanti Region, signed the release, reaffirming the Service’s commitment to safeguarding communities against drug trafficking and related offenses.
