The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has announced the recruitment of qualified and experienced heavy‑duty equipment operators to strengthen its sanitation, waste management, drainage, emergency response, and city improvement operations.
Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, disclosed the initiative during the outdooring of two new compactor waste trucks. He explained that successful applicants would be tasked with operating assigned equipment to support refuse collection, waste evacuation, drain desilting, debris removal, post‑flood clean‑up activities, and other operational assignments of the Assembly.
He said the recruitment formed part of measures to build a reliable pool of skilled operators to enhance the effective management of sanitation and environmental challenges within the city. Applicants are required to have relevant experience in operating the equipment they apply for, possess valid licences or certifications, and demonstrate discipline and the ability to work under pressure.
The Mayor emphasized that effective sanitation management required not only the availability of equipment but also skilled personnel to operate machines safely and efficiently. He added that the exercise was in line with the Assembly’s commitment to improving public service delivery and building a clean, safe, and orderly Accra.
Qualified operators have been encouraged to submit application letters, copies of valid licences or certificates, curriculum vitae, and other supporting documents to the AMA’s Human Resource Department.
