The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana International Bank (GHIB), Mr. Ian Greenstreet, has pledged the bank’s commitment to partnering with government to strengthen Ghana’s export sector and support economic growth.
Mr. Greenstreet made the pledge when he led a delegation from GHIB to pay a courtesy call on the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu‑Adjare, in Accra on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
In her remarks, Hon. Ofosu‑Adjare highlighted government’s efforts to promote agro‑processing, value addition, and support for Small and Medium‑sized Enterprises (SMEs). She encouraged the bank to identify export‑ready, market‑oriented companies capable of making significant impact, as well as resilient small businesses requiring financial support to scale their operations.
The Minister noted that investing in viable businesses with strong growth potential would not only support Ghana’s industrialisation agenda but also guarantee sustainable returns for the bank. She disclosed that the Ekumfi Juice Factory would soon receive additional government support to expand operations, increase pineapple and pawpaw processing, and boost Ghana’s export capacity, particularly in the United Kingdom market.
Hon. Ofosu‑Adjare further urged GHIB to consider investing in the cocoa and cashew sectors, describing them as promising areas with significant opportunities for financing and growth. She added that government would intensify its focus on the oil palm sector in the coming year, while two additional cashew processing factories are expected to be established.
Mr. Greenstreet welcomed the proposals, noting that collaboration between GHIB, the Ministry, and the Ghana Export‑Import Bank (GEXIM) would foster strategic partnerships to expand international business opportunities, support Ghanaian enterprises, and accelerate economic growth.
