MultiChoice Unveils Major Value Boost for Ghanaian Subscribers

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation has announced a landmark agreement with MultiChoice Africa to ease the financial burden of pay-TV services on Ghanaian households. Following extensive stakeholder engagement, DSTV subscribers in Ghana will now enjoy between 33% and 50% more value on their subscriptions beginning October 1, 2025.

At a press briefing, the Director of Innovations, Mr. Emmanuel Okori, alongside MultiChoice Africa CEO Fulu Badugela and National Communications Authority (NCA) Director General Edmond Pianku Yerenchi, confirmed the details.

Under the new arrangement, each bouquet will be automatically upgraded to the next higher package at no extra cost. For example, subscribers paying GHS 59 for the “Padi” bouquet will now access the “Access” package worth GHS 99, while those on “Family” will automatically enjoy live football on the “Compact” bouquet, a 50% value increase.

Government described this as a “victory for the Ghanaian people,” highlighting that MultiChoice exceeded expectations by offering more than the 30% relief initially requested.

The Ministry also announced a 50% subsidy on decoder kits and a crackdown on cross-border piracy of Nigerian DSTV boxes, which have long deprived Ghana of tax revenue.

“This is about fairness, national interest, and easing the burden on Ghanaian households,” the Minister affirmed.
