The Ministry of Health has announced new measures to strengthen Ghana’s preparedness against Ebola, with heightened surveillance and response systems at the Aflao Border.
Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, led an on-site assessment of border operations, engaging frontline agencies to fast-track interventions and address critical gaps in disease detection and control.
While border officials reported ongoing screening, surveillance, and isolation protocols, challenges such as inadequate personal protective equipment (PPE), limited staffing, and deteriorating COVID-19-era infrastructure were flagged for urgent attention.
Prof. Ayensu-Danquah inspected screening points, the isolation centre, and the municipal hospital to evaluate real-time readiness and response capacity. She assured that the Government is set to roll out modern, fully equipped border health facilities and scale up investments in personnel, logistics, and essential supplies to reinforce Ghana’s frontline defence against a potential Ebola outbreak.
The initiative underscores Ghana’s commitment to safeguarding public health and strengthening border resilience against emerging infectious diseases.
