NPA Marks World Menstrual Hygiene Day with Pad Distribution

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA), through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Department, has commemorated World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 with the distribution of over 60,000 sanitary pads to female students in seven senior high schools across six regions of Ghana.

The beneficiary schools included Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) in Tamale, OLA Girls Senior High School in the Volta Region, Holy Child School in the Central Region, Bole Senior High School, Ahantaman Girls’ Senior High School in the Western Region, T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School in the Ashanti Region, and Adonten Senior High School in the Eastern Region.

The initiative, part of the Authority’s CSR programme, aims to promote menstrual health and hygiene while supporting the confidence, dignity, and overall well-being of young girls. It also seeks to ensure that menstruation does not become a barrier to education, personal development, and the realization of students’ full potential.

Speaking during the outreach, Head of CSR Mr. Maxwell Asare Ampadu emphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene management in the lives of young women. “Menstrual hygiene is a critical aspect of every young woman’s health and well-being and should never be a barrier to education, confidence, or success. Every female student deserves the opportunity to pursue her dreams with dignity and without limitations,” he stated.

Mr. Ampadu encouraged students to maintain good hygiene practices, remain confident, and stay focused on their academic aspirations despite challenges. He reaffirmed NPA’s commitment to supporting educational institutions and empowering the next generation through impactful interventions that create lasting social value and contribute to national development.

The sanitary pad distribution exercise reflects the Authority’s dedication to improving the welfare of young people and advancing sustainable development through meaningful community-based initiatives.
