The Research, Statistics and Information Management (RSIM) Directorate of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has successfully completed a four-day training programme on Cybersecurity and Child Online Protection for staff of the Ministry.
Organised in collaboration with the Cybersecurity Authority (CSA), the training formed part of efforts to strengthen staff capacity in digital safety and child protection, particularly in the face of rising online risks.
Officers from the CSA facilitated the sessions, guiding participants through key aspects of child online protection with emphasis on the risks and vulnerabilities associated with children’s digital activities in Ghana. The training also examined Ghana’s cybersecurity landscape, highlighting both persistent and emerging threats.
Participants were introduced to Child Online Safety Toolkits to support programme implementation and enhance education on responsible and safe digital practices.
Speaking on the importance of the initiative, the Director of RSIM, Dr. Sylvester Kyei Gyamfi, stressed the need to equip staff with the requisite knowledge and tools to effectively address issues of online safety, especially as digital engagement continues to expand.
The training is expected to significantly boost staff capacity to promote safe digital practices and reinforce the Ministry’s commitment to protecting children in the online space.
