Mandatory Medical Certification Introduced for Hajj 2026 Visa Processing

The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (POAG) has announced a new directive requiring all prospective pilgrims to undergo mandatory medical examinations and obtain certification as part of the Hajj 2026 visa application process.

The announcement, issued from POAG’s headquarters at Hajj Village, Kotoka International Airport, follows updated guidelines from the Saudi Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. These guidelines mandate comprehensive health screening to determine the medical eligibility of pilgrims before visa approval.

According to POAG, the Ghana Hajj Medical Team will collaborate with accredited health institutions to conduct the examinations across designated centres nationwide. The screening will include a review of medical, surgical, and drug history, physical assessments, and a series of laboratory and diagnostic tests.

Tests will cover Full Blood Count, Renal and Liver Function, Blood Sugar levels (FBS and HbA1c), and Urine Pregnancy (where applicable). Pilgrims will also undergo Electrocardiograms (ECG) and any other tests deemed necessary by medical professionals.

POAG has urged applicants to contact their accredited Hajj agents for details on timelines and screening centres. To ensure orderliness, pilgrims are advised to wait for their scheduled turn and adhere strictly to communicated procedures.

The office further assured applicants that all medical records will be handled with strict confidentiality in line with professional ethics and data protection standards.

For inquiries, POAG can be reached via email at pilgrimsghana@gmail.com or through its official phone and WhatsApp lines.
