Mahama Pledges Completion of Western Regional Hospital in 18 Months

President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday visited the construction site of the new Western Regional Hospital at Apemanim, assuring residents that his government will release the necessary funds to ensure the project is completed within 18 months.

The hospital project, which commenced in 2022, was halted in 2023, leaving the structure unfinished. Designed as a 250-bed, five-storey facility, the hospital is expected to significantly improve healthcare delivery in the Western Region once completed.

The facility will house modern surgical theatres, an intensive care unit (ICU), a blood bank, laboratories, and pharmacies, as well as specialized wards for children, maternity, female and male medical, and surgical care.

President Mahama, after inspecting the site, emphasized the importance of the project to the region’s health infrastructure and reiterated his administration’s commitment to reviving stalled projects.

“This hospital is a priority. We will make the funds available and ensure that within 18 months, the people of the Western Region will have access to this modern facility,” he assured.

Residents and local leaders welcomed the President’s pledge, expressing hope that the long-awaited hospital would soon be completed to ease pressure on existing health facilities in the region.
