The Member of Parliament for Jaman South and former Commissioner-General of Customs, Colonel Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd), has pleaded not guilty to eight counts of corruption and corruption-related offences in the ongoing case The Republic v Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta and seven others.
Colonel Damoah, the sixth accused person (A6), was absent at the last adjourned date, with the court declining to issue a bench warrant after noting that he was engaged in parliamentary duties and had not been served.
At Thursday’s sitting, the court granted bail to A6 in the sum of GH₵50 million with two sureties, each to be justified. He was ordered to deposit his passport and all travel documents at the court registry, while the sureties must submit copies of their Ghana Cards. The accused has also been placed on the Immigration Service stop list at all entry and exit points and is required to report weekly to the lead investigator at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
The court further directed the prosecution to file and serve witness statements and all disclosure documents at least two clear days before the scheduled Case Management Conference (CMC) on January 29, 2026. Accused persons three to eight (A3–A8) were also ordered to file the names and addresses of witnesses they intend to rely on, as well as any witness statements or documents, within the same timeframe.
Meanwhile, the prosecution informed the court that steps are being taken through Mutual Legal Assistance to secure the appearance of the first and second accused persons, Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta and Ernest Darko Akore, to stand trial.
The case has been adjourned to January 29, 2026, for the Case Management Conference.
