The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has commissioned the Eastern Regional Command Office of the National Signals Bureau (NSB) in Koforidua, marking a significant step in strengthening Ghana’s security architecture and safeguarding public safety.
The ultra-modern facility, fitted with advanced surveillance and intelligence-gathering technology, is expected to enhance the Bureau’s capacity to monitor security threats, improve coordination with other agencies, and support government’s 24-hour economy policy.
In his address, Hon. Mubarak reaffirmed government’s commitment to leveraging technology to stay ahead of criminals and ensure Ghana remains a haven of peace and stability

“This facility is not just a building; it is a nerve centre for intelligence that will allow us to lawfully intercept and analyse digital communications, prevent crime, and protect our people,” he said.
The Minister stressed that the initiative forms part of President Mahama’s broader agenda to modernize national security infrastructure across the country.

Also present at the ceremony were the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, and the National Security Coordinator, COP Abdul-Osman Razak, who both highlighted the importance of the new command in tackling challenges such as illegal mining, armed robbery, and drug-related crimes.
The commissioning of the Eastern Regional Command adds to ongoing efforts to decentralize the operations of the NSB, ensuring that intelligence gathering and response mechanisms are closer to the communities they serve.
