The Ministry of Health has announced the payment of two‑month arrears owed to newly recruited nurses, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening Ghana’s health workforce.
In a statement issued on April,28th , the Ministry confirmed that the next tranche of payments, covering three months from May to July 2026, will follow as scheduled. Officials expressed appreciation for the patience and cooperation of stakeholders during the process.
The Ministry also addressed ongoing recruitment concerns, emphasizing that the official recruitment portal remains the sole channel for applications to ensure transparency and fairness. With thousands of applicants vying for limited slots, the Ministry acknowledged the anxiety among unsuccessful candidates and assured that efforts are underway to secure additional financial clearances.
According to the release, government plans to recruit up to 16,000 health workers this year, with clearance already obtained for about 8,000. These clearances have been distributed across various health cadres to facilitate gradual absorption into the system.
“No health worker will be engaged without financial provision,” the statement stressed, underscoring accountability in the recruitment exercise.
The Ministry urged individuals facing challenges to contact the Human Resource for Health Development Directorate for assistance, while assuring the public that measures are being taken to accommodate more qualified applicants.
